Hand Rejuvenation

The appearance of a person’s hands can really betray their age. We sometimes focus so much on taking care of our face and neck that it is easy to forget about the sunspots and aging on our hands. That forgetfulness is unfortunate because there is a lot we can do to make our hands more youthful.

As with the face and neck, rejuvenation of the hands starts with good skin care. Since our hands are exposed to sun daily, especially when driving, a hydrating mineral sun block should be applied each morning before leaving the house. If there are already sunspots, a lightening cream should also be applied in the morning. At night, a small amount of Retin A can be blended with hydrating or lightening cream to stimulate cellular renewal for younger skin.

To further renew skin texture and complexion, we use BBL and DOT laser. These treatments improve skin laxity, texture, and dyspigmentation. A series of 3-4 treatments is typical, followed by maintenance procedures every 6 months.

Finally, we must address the volume loss that occurs with most people, causing the fragile, aged appearance with bulging veins. I prefer using Radiesse for hands because in addition to restoring the youthful fulness to the back of the hand, it covers the blue veins that can be unsightly. Filler for hands is typically repeated every 6-9 months.
